Description
Chicha de Jora is the traditional drink of the Incas - a type of delicious and refreshing corn beer. Surrounded by colourful mountains, hummingbirds, and horses, our Chicheria is the spot where we prepare Chicha, and you will learn and participate hands on how to make this drink using local ingredients.
You will also experience the ritual ceremonies that take place when drinking Chicha. First, a little Chicha must be poured onto the ground as an offering to “Pachamama” (Mother Earth). Then the “Kero” (traditional vessel) is raised skywards and the group toasts to the “Apus” (mountain gods).
The drinking of chicha is older than the Incas, so for countless generations it has served as a way of connecting with the gods, a source of hydration and energy, and of course an effective social lubricant. Come and experience this sacred tradition with us!
Demo includes:
- English-speaking facilitator and a local Chicha maestro
